Kenjeran Coast, where one could go sailing, boating, or swimming. The legendary Kalimas River is also a must-see, as well as the zoo, and the amusement park located right in the heart of the city. The city had been occupied by the Dutch, and it briefly served as the home of the Dutch naval station. It was taken over by the Japanese during the Second World War, turned over to the allies in 1945, and finally incorporated into the Indonesian republic some years later.

Tourists who wish to reach Surabaya need to use the connecting service of international carriers such as Jet Airways, Air India or Malaysian Airlines. For example, passengers from Bangalore, Mumbai or Delhi need to fly to Chennai Airport before taking off for Kuala Lumpur or Singapore and then proceeding to Surabaya.
