Cheap Flights to Santorini, Greece from India

 

 

Bowing gracefully over azure seas and with a view unlike any other in the world, Santorini is definitely a location in its own category. This volcanic island in the Cyclades group of islands in Greece is a popular tourist destination. The city is famous for its stunning sunsets, good food and unique architecture seen in the whitewashed homes carved into the cliffs that overlook the sparkling waters of the Aegean Sea.

The stunning sunsets of Santorini can be enjoyed from almost anywhere in town but for the best view, head on to the town of Oia where you can see the sun making its retreat while dining on traditional Greek cuisine in any of the al fresco restaurants that are carved into the hillside. The island’s beaches are also among its top draws. Soak up the sun with a few hours at Perissa or try the black pebbles over at Kamari, before heading out to explore the villages where you can find shops that sell anything from traditional Greek pottery to food, vegetables and fish. The island is dotted with inns and hotels that are often converted farmer and fishermen’s huts or the remains of small villages. Get to the highest point by heading to Pyragos where you can also visit several Greek monasteries. The place competes with Oia as one of the most charming places in the island.

Get in by air through the Santorini (Thira) National airport, located north of the village of Kamari. There are regular flights from Athens by Olympic Airways, Aegean Airlines and AirSea Airlines that take about 30 minutes. Those flying in from Mumbai may need to take connecting flights from Doha, stop at Athens before flying to Santorini. Airlines offering flights include Jet Airways, Olympic Airlines and Qatar Airways.
