Aurangabad, or ‘Built by the throne,’ is a city located in the district of Aurangabad in Maharashtra, India. The city got its name from the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and it is best known as a tourist hub that is surrounded by monuments that mark history. Most of the monuments that are found in the city have already been identified as UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Ellora Caves and the Ajanta Caves.

The Paithani textiles which are sarees from Paithan are known to be highly prized possessions by those who acquire them. Tourists can witness the centuries-old weaving of the sarees of Paithani. These sarees are quite valuable as they are woven out of 100% silk and gold threads called zari, which are drawn out of pure unadulterated gold.
The city boasts of its Aurangabad Airport is the city’s main domestic airport that has flights connecting to Udaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Jaipur. Tourists departing from Delhi to Aurangabad cost around $250 aboard American, US Airways, United Midwest, AirTran, Frontier, JetBlue Airways and Continental Delta.
