Air China is the international carrier of China and the country's second-largest commercial carrier. The airline has hubs in Beijing Capital International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Air China currently flies to approximately 120 destinations; the most destinations from its own Beijing hub. Air China operates a mixed fleet of 264 aircraft to destinations across Middle East, Asia, Western Europe, and North America.

The airline has first, business and economy class as its travel cabins. Air China is the first domestic civil carrier to set up the Forbidden Pavilion first class and Capital Pavilion business class, the two-class services in medium-to-long distance flights focusing on lie-flat seats which offer the passengers comfortable and spacious travel cabins.

The airline is a member of the Star Alliance team, and it operates a frequent flyer programme called Air China Companion or PhoenixMiles. In addition to earning mileage through flights, members can also earn miles when use the services hotels, rental car services or banking corporations that are Air China’s partner. These accrued mileages can be redeemed for free trips and upgrades and other privileges.

Air China International subsidiaries include Air China Cargo, flight logistics company and Air China Business Jet, the business jet company. Together with its partners and subsidiaries Air China International flies to Canada, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Beijing, Bangalore, Delhi and Hong Kong. The airline's main competitors include Malaysia Airlines and China Airlines.
